FRESH FOOD AND PROCESSED FOOD

Fresh food comes from animals or plants. Farmers and fishermen produce fresh food.

Processed food is food  made in factories from fresh food.
Processed food has a label on it.
The label tells you the ingredients and the ‘best before’ date.

FOOD GROUPS



There are six food groups:

Carbohydrates (grains)
Bread, cereals, pasta, potatoes, sugar.
They have carbohydrates. Carbohydrates give you energy.
Fats (Oils)

Oil, butter, bacon.
They have fats.  Fats give you energy.

Dairy products (milk)

Milk, yoghurt, cheese.
They have proteins and calcium for strong bones.

Proteins (Meat, beans)

Meat, fish, eggs, pulses
They have proteins to help you to grow
.
 Vitamins (Vegetables and Fruits)


They have vitamins. Vitamins help you to be healthy.

KEEPING HEALTHY

Healthy or ill


When your body works well, you are healthy. When your body does not work well, you are ill.
  
  If you have a:
   -   Headache    ________________ take an aspirin.
   -   Broken arm ________________ have an X-ray.
   -   Fever           ________________ take your temperature
   -   Stomachache _______________ go to the doctor.


   Doctors can help you. Go to the doctor when you are ill.


A healthy diet



A healthy diet keeps you healthy.
Your diet should be  varied.
You should eat food from all the food groups.
This food wheel can help you to choose a healthy diet.

Eat some food everyday from cereals, vegetables and fruit.





Don´t eat too many foods from the centre of the wheel. 
Make a lot of exercise.




Healthy Habits


-  Be clean: It helps to prevent diseases.

            - Wash your hands before meals.
            - Brush your teeth after meals.
            - Have a bath or a shower every day.


-  Sleep a lot: Ten hours per day.

-  Exercise: It makes your body strong and flexible.
